Marrying Stable Models with Belief Update

چکیده
The need for integration of classical logic with nonmonotonic rules has been gaining importance in areas like the Semantic Web and Open Multi-Agent Systems. A number of researchers addressed this problem by proposing a unified semantics for knowledge bases composed of both first-order formulae and rules (also called hybrid knowledge bases). These semantics have matured over the years, but only provide solutions for the static case when knowledge does not

The Rise and Fall of Semantic Rule Updates Based on SE-Models∗ MARTIN SLOTA and JOÃO LEITE
Logic programs under the stable model semantics, or answer-set programs, provide an expressive rule-based knowledge representation framework, featuring a formal, declarative and well-understood semantics. However, handling the evolution of rule bases is still a largely open problem. The AGM framework for belief change was shown to give inappropriate results when directly applied to logic progra...

متن کاملArrow Update Logic
We present Arrow Update Logic, a theory of epistemic access elimination that can be used to reason about multi-agent belief change. While the belief-changing “arrow updates” of Arrow Update Logic can be transformed into equivalent belief-changing “action models” from the popular Dynamic Epistemic Logic approach, we prove that arrow updates are sometimes exponentially more succinct than action m...
متن کاملConsiderations on Updates of Logic Programs
Among others, Alferes et al. (1998) presented an approach for updating logic programs with sets of rules based on dynamic logic programs. We syntactically redefine dynamic logic programs and investigate their semantical properties, looking at them from perspectives such as a belief revision and abstract consequence relation view. Since the approach does not respect minimality of change, we refi...
